Brake Systems
Brake Service – Auto Repair – Dakota K – Arlington Heights, IL
We begin with a thorough brake inspection to determine which parts or components need replacement or maintenance. Brake components include, brake rotors, calipers, brake hoses and brake pads or brake drums, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, brake hoses.
The most common problem with brakes is just wear — if you’re hearing a screeching noise when you brake or the car is pulling when you brake, it’s time to replace some of the parts. There’s no typical service interval for brakes, so you just have to be aware of their behavior and, to be safe, have someone look at them occasionally.
The other common problem is with brake fluid which can be too low, have bubbles or debris, or be at the wrong pressure — you’ll notice if the brake starts going down too far. Brake fluid is checked at the time of each oil change for proper level and contamination. There can be other mechanical or hydraulic problems, but these are less common.
