Having your fuel systems serviced can restore lost gas mileage. Cleaning and replacing injectors can make acceleration more even, and in some cars prevent clogging.
The fuel system is how your engine gets the gas to run and if any parts in the system aren’t working, you can’t run the engine. The most common problem with the fuel system is a clogged fuel filter — they should be changed every so often and symptoms include sputtering at high speeds or an engine that won’t start. Fuel pumps also occasionally need to be replaced.
